David Maxwell 'Max' Farmer of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the age of 72 years.
Max spent all of his career in the broadcast industry as an electronic engineer, first with CHAT TV in Medicine Hat, then with CFCN TV in Calgary. He was a ham radio operator (VE6SL) since the 1960's. Max enjoyed attending antique, ham radio, and electronics shows. Max was an avid car enthusiast and often entered his Mustang convertible in car shows. Max frequented auctions and ham radio club coffee mornings.
He was also a great Elvis fan. Max continued to stay in touch with all of his many friends.
Max is survived by his sisters: Arleen (Duane) Bouska, Louise (Wally) Rieger, Pamela (Wayne) Cooper, Kelly (Tom) Eriksen; and his brothers: Gerry and Richard (Gay). "Uncle Max" was special to his many nieces, nephews and young friends. Max was predeceased by his parents Fran and Bert Farmer, sister Linda Farmer, nephew Woody Farmer and niece Bree Eriksen.
A Celebration of Max's life will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 - 4 Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen's Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. A Private Family Graveside Service will take place at a later date.
