William Thomas Leonard, of Science Hill, Kentucky, departed this life and entered into eternal peace on Friday, August 31st, 2012 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky. William was born in Rock Island, Illinois, son of the late Thomas Henry Leonard and Ferra Bish Leonard. He was an electronic engineer and had worked for Western Geophysics and was a radio engineer for Illinois police. William was a United States Navy World War II and Korean War Veteran. He received numerous Medals and Citations during his tours of duty. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Post No#38. He was survived by his loving wife, Rosandie "Sandy" Garcia Leonard, whom he married in June of 1972 in Belize City, Belize; one son, Thomas Leonard of Lahaina, Hawaii; one daughter, Mary Hartman of Surprise, Arizona; one brother, Seldon (and Agnes) Leonard of Geneseo, Illinois; one sister, Norma Landers of Northville, Minnesota; a niece, Carol Johnson; a nephew, Lee Thomas; four grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing. William was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Henry and Ferra Leonard. His final wishes were to be cremated and his cremains to be scattered in Maui, Hawaii by his son Thomas. |
