Chapter 19
|
Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, I was first licensed as a Novice (WNØCNO) in 1962. I upgraded to Technician (WAØCNO) in 1963 and to General (NØFH) in 1981. In 1993 I passed the Advanced test and the Extra in 1996. I received the vanity call WØFM in November, 1996.
My QSL policy: If you send me a card, you'll get one back. No SASE or return postage required. IMPORTANT NOTE: Sorry, I do NOT use eQSL.
I am Vice President of Marketing and partner in a Motorola authorized two-way radio dealership doing business in Missouri and Illinois. Prior to that I worked for 12 years for Motorola where I designed and sold FM two-way radio systems for government and industry. Before that I spent about 8 years in law enforcement.
I enjoy SSB and PSK-31 on 10 thru 40 running an Elecraft K-3 with the P-3 Panadapter into an Alpha-Delta DX-EE dipole in the attic (hey, it got me DXCC and WAS!) I use an Icom IC-910H for VHF and satellites. I also use an Elecraft K-2 with 6M Transverter into a pair of stacked halos (also in the attic).
Antenna restrictions have created my most passionate interest: experimenting with hidden antennas! I also enjoy home-brewing station accessories and kit building. I recently completed building an Elecraft K2/100 and matching XV-50 6 meter transverter, and an Elecraft K3/100. Having built the LP-200, LP-100 and LP-100A kits from Telepost, Inc (Larry, N8LP), I recently added his LP-PAN panadapter kit to my collection. These are high quality kits that are a ball to build and use.
I have had the following fun stuff published (they were obviously hard-up for material):
Give Your Station A Factory Face Lift: QST, July, 1999 (page 47). Reviving the Slash Zero (Ø: QST, April, 2000 (page 25). A Push-Button Memory Tuner for $2!: QST Hints and Kinks, April 2003 (page 65).
When not in the shack, I'd likely be found with my son, Ryan aboard our boat, BRIEF INTERMISSION, at Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri.
