Richard E. (Dick) Pettijohn, age 94, of Naples passed away on November 7, 2017. He was formerly from the Twin cities in Minnesota.

Dick was a very proud graduate of Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis. He graduated as an electrician and worked in the Twin Cities area all of his life. Dick moved to Naples with his wife Joan in 1984 and became active in the community. He was a member of the Naples Sail and Power Squadron and the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. As an avid Ham radio operator, he Joined the QCWA Radio Club. Dick found his love of electronics and Ham radio when he was 14 years young. He loved Morse Code and served in the Army Air Corp during WWII as a radio operator in Alaska. Three weeks before his death he was fortunate to be on the Washington DC Honor Flight for Veterans. Dick was an avid and gifted Bridge player. He played twice a week in Naples at Monaco and Bentley Village. Oh, how he loved his Bridge! Dick was one of the founding members of Cypress Wood Presbyterian Church where his service will be held. He loved the comradery of the "men's group". Though it shook him up, he was proud of the fact he survived Irma. He stated that next time he would evacuate though. It looks like he will be doing that now. Dick, Naples will never be the same without you. You are now pain free and on your next journey with Joan, W0MIA has now signed out.
A special gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, December 9 at 2PM at the Cypress Wood Presbyterian Church 3380 Golden Gate Blvd West. Memorials preferred to The Collier County Honor Flights for Veterans.
