USAF Lt. Col. Ret. Jerold Jerry Lee Ramsey of Sun City, Texas passed away on December 24th, 2020 at his home. Visitation will be at 12:00PM on Saturday, January 2nd at Apfel Funeral Home 1123 W.2nd Street, Grand Island, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM at Apfel Funeral Home with Jerold's brother, Larry Ramsey, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar View Cemetery in Doniphan, Nebraska. Jerry was born in Hastings, Nebraska to Kenneth and Ruth Ramsey on July, 19,1940. He went to school at Hastings High School. He married Cleo Marsh on June 13th, 1964 in Grand Island, Nebraska. He graduated from Hastings College with a B.A. in Political Science and History. He served in the United States Air Force in active duty for six years and spent 14 years in the reserves. He served during the Vietnam War as a squadron section commander and was awarded the USAF Commendation Medal for meritorious service. He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America, Peace Corps, Georgetown Kiwanis Club, Sun City Golf Association, Sun City Bowling League, and was a proud member of the Amateur Radio Association. He was baptized at Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown, TX on Jul 15, 2017. Jerold Ramsey is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Ruth Ramsey. Jerold is survived by wife, Cleo Ramsey of Sun City, TX: son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Randi Ramsey of Richmond, TX: brothers, Kaye Ramsey of Omaha, NE and Larry Ramsey of Beatrice, NE: grandchildren, Trevor Ramsey of Victoria, TX, Addie Ramsey of Mont Belvieu, TX, Miranda Ramsey of Houston, TX, and Anna Colley of Richmond, TX. |
