William (Bill) C. Wygant, 84, died January 28, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Paul, MN of natural causes. A visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00am and a memorial service from 11:00am-12:00pm on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Newport Lutheran Church, 900 Fifteenth Street, Newport, MN.
Bill was born May 20, 1925, in St. Paul, MN. He graduated from White Bear Lake HS and later went on to earn an AS degree in electronics from St. Paul Technical College. Bill and his wife Betty have been married for 58 years and are members of Newport Lutheran Church. Bill was a founding member of the Newport wood carvers club and a member of Newport Lutheran Church. Bill worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad and later retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad.
He enjoyed being a Ham radio operator (WØSIB) and volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America. Bill had a warm personality, strangers to him were only friends he had not met yet. He enjoyed making people laugh by telling jokes and sharing stories.
Bill is survived by his wife Betty, three sons, David, John (Marianne), and Donald (Cindy), and grandchildren Jacob, Jennifer, Lucas, Zachary, Melissa, Aaron, and Daniel. Memorials preferred to Newport Lutheran Church. Cremation Society of Minnesota (952)924-4100
