Alfred C. Shippy 87, passed away Monday, October 27th. He was born July 3, 1927 near Woodbine, the son of Charles and daisy (Shoemaker) Shippy.
Growing up in Woodbine, Alfred attended local schools and graduated from Chapman High School.
On June 1, 1951 he married Evelyn Link. Most of their married life was spent in Kansas City, Missouri.
Alfred had been employed as a security guard by the Bendix Corporation, the Kansas City Police Force and later owned and operated the Farmers' Insurance beginning in 1978.
He was involved in ham radio and was a pilot in the civil air patrol.
Evelyn preceded him in death in 1998 and his sister, Velma Bender.
Survived by: 3 Sons Ron Shippy, Abilene; Lyle Shippy, Abilene; Merlin Shippy, Salina; Sister Della Barr Kansas City, KS; 3 Brothers Eldon Shippy, Navarre; Earl Shippy, Woodbine and Gerald Shippy, Woodbine; 2 Grandchild & 3 Great-grandchild
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, October 31st, at the Danner Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Shippy Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church. They may be left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
