John W. James, MD, 91, of Mahtomedi, died Oct. 5.

Survived by wife Virginia, daughters Virginia Apel and Winifred Dick and five grandchildren.

A member of the United States & Canadian Academy of Pathology, John James was a fellow of the American Society of Clinical Pathology and a fellow of the Doctors Mayo Society.

Dr. James was a medical officer in the US Navy during WWII. He was an active member of the Inland Lake Yachting Association, the USGA, the Experimental Aircraft Association and he held extra class status in the Amateur Radio Relay League with the call WØWB.

Memorial service is 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26 at House of Hope Presbyterian Church, 797 Summit Ave., St. Paul. Memorials to the Union Gospel Mission, St. Paul.
