Raymond Minichiello, age 96, a native of Revere, MA, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2013 in Las Vegas, NV.
He was an alumnus of Tufts University and served in the Navy. He was an avid radio communication enthusiast. He is known for his several contributions to this field. He was the founder of Guglielmo Marconi Foundation /Museum USA. As an electrical engineer he was involved in the V-2 Rockets Guided Missiles Project at White Sands Proving Ground in Las Cruces, NM.
He is survived by his longtime caring partner, Priscilla Cusi, MD of North Las Vegas, NV, former wife Virginia Minichiello of Lynnfield, MA, son Peter Minichiello of New York , NY, daughter Paula Granofsky and husband Mark of Dover, MA, daughter Anita Wos and husband Lawrence of Shrewsbury, MA, daughter Lisa Folsom and husband Robert of Newton, NH, grandchildren, Adam and Burton Granofsky, Sarah Toce, Frederick Sieg, and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Anthony.
There will be a celebration of his life on August 23, 2013, 10 AM, at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home, 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will follow shortly thereafter at St Michael's Cemetery in the family plot with his parents Maria Antonia and Filippo Minichiello.

I'm writing to let you know that Ray Minichiello, W1BC, passed away last night.
My statement is based on an exchange of email messages I had with Ray's wife, Priscilla Cusi, MD in the early morning hours today.
I had the privilege of visiting with Ray and Priscilla on a number of occasions, beginning at their former home in Bedford, New Hampshire, and continuing at their next residence in North Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm going to miss Ray. It was a highlight any time I got to spend time with him on the phone or in person.

Ray, an active amateur since 1933, is Chairman of the Marconi Foundation, USA, Inc. and the US National Marconi Musuem in Bedford, NH. Previously, from 1940 to 1970 (except for WWII active duty), Ray worked with General Electric Company retiring as Manager of Product Planning of the Communicatation Products Division at Lynchburg, VA. Ray joined GE at Schenectady, NY in 1940, first in the Aircraft Department and later following his WWII active duty, joined the Aviation and Ordnance Deptartment in 1945 as Project Engineer responsible for the assembly and launching of captured German V-2 Rockets at White Sands Proving Grounds, NM. At the conclusion of the V-2 program in 1954, Ray joined the GE Communications Division as District Engineer then as New England Manager. Ray later returned to Lynchburg to assume the role of Manager, Product Planning of Two-Way Radio and Microwave communications equipment.
A few awards received by Ray include the General Electric Company "President Philip D. Reed Award", the Batcher Memorial Award from the Radio Club of America and the Marconi Gold Medal of Achievement Award from the Veterans Wireless Operators Ass'n.
Ray is a Registered Professional Engineer, first in Massachusetts then New Hampshire in 1960 and 1961 respectively.
