Harold C. Chase Jr. *CHASE, Harold C., Jr.* Harold C. Chase, Jr., 91, a resident of West Suffield since 1978, formerly of Windsor and Danvers, MA, died early Thursday morning, (February 21, 2008) at Kimberly Hall North of Windsor.

He was born in Whitman, MA, a son of the late Harold C. Chase, Sr. and Ina L. (Bailey) Chase. Harold attended the University of Alabama where he studied in the Electrical Engineering field and was employed as an electronics engineer for the former Anders Inc., located in Simsbury, until his retirement in 1985.

His passion was being a licensed Ham Radio Operator since 1932, with his call letters W1EES, as well as a life member and served several years on the Board of Directors for the Quarter Century Wireless Association.

W1EES - Harold Chase Harold also was a 50-year member of the Putnam Masonic Lodge # 46 A. F. & A. M. South Woodstock and the Sphinix Temple Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S. Newington. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to the late Gladys (VanTura) Chase, who died in February of 1998.

Harold leaves a son, Harold "Hal" Chase and his daughter, Cynthia Huk, both of Ellington; two grandchildren, Susan L. Bentley and Timothy R. Huk both of Granby; two great grandchildren, Alexander Chase Bentley and Caitlin Louise Bentley; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Louise L. Chase and Barbara Johnson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, and burial will be private. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening. The Officers and members of Valley Lodge #36 A.F. & A.M. will conduct a Masonic Service Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm

Instead of flowers, contributions in his memory may be directed to the Quarter Century Wireless Association Scholarship Fund

W1EES - Harold Chase Harold was first licensed in 1932 and has held that call since that time. He is an Extra class licensee. Rag Chewing, FD activities and some Dx-ing have been his interests. He is an ARRL member, a Life member of QCWA and is Past President of Yankee, Nutmeg and Pioneer Chapters. He worked in the field of electronics spending 15 years in production and engineering at Harvey Wells Electronics, five years at Andersen Laboratories as a project engineer in connection with the development and installation of the AN/FPS-85 Missile and satellite tracking station at Eglin AFB in Florida and then another two years with the Electro-Optical division of Kollmorgen Corp. working on electronics associated with the Trident Submarine program.

Harold served on the QCWA Board of Directors for 8 years-1998 to 2005.
