Robert L. Zoner September 29, 1935 - August 12, 2012
Lisbon - Robert L. Zoner, 76, of Rex Road passed away Sunday morning at his home. He was born September 29, 1935 in Harmonsburg, PA, the 5th son of the late Kornet H. and Elizabeth A. (Frazier) Zoner. On September 21, 1956 he was married to Norma Jean Money at the First Baptist Church of Linesville, PA, Rev. Lester H. Norton officiated. She survives him.
Robert served in the U.S. Army for 3 years in Austria, Germany, & Italy. He then joined the U.S. Coast Guard and retired after more than 20 years of honorable, loyal, and faithful service. He was employed by Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection & Insurance Co., which is now AIG Insurance, retiring after 20 years.
Robert was amateur radio operator W1IBS and a member of the Quarter Century Wireless Club. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a life member of Mt. Hood Lodge #32 F. & A .M. of Vancouver, WA. He was a member of the Jewett City Baptist Church where he served as a greeter, deacon, trustee, and moderator. He was a historical guide at the Mystic Seaport. He was a past fireman and EMT with the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department.
Robert loved camping, woodcarving, painting, fishing, sailing, and history.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son Michael A. Zoner and his wife Jerrette of Clinton, two sister in laws Helen Zoner of Harmonsburg, PA and Marion Zoner of Commerce, MI, two grandsons Nicholas and Matthew Zoner, two nieces, four nephews, several great nieces, several great nephews, and several great-great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers John Zoner, Carl Zoner, Daniel Zoner, and Calvin Zoner.
A Memorial service will be held 11:00AM August 25, 2012 at the Jewett City Baptist Church, Jewett City. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
