DR. LEONARD J. NYBERG, JR., W1LJN LISBON, NH -- Dr. Leonard J. Nyberg, Jr (September 7, 1936 - December 10, 2018). Joe passed quietly after an eight-year battle with cancer. He was born in Providence, RI, the son of the late Leonard J. Nyberg, Sr. and Mildred P. Nyberg. He had a variety of interests over the years. Joe was a member of the Manchester Hangar of the Ancient and Secret Order of Quiet Birdman and wrote for their monthly magazine, The Beam. He was an avid mountaineer and was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club 4000 Footers and at the age of 78 completed all 67 New England 4000 footers. Joe also enjoyed rock and ice climbing. He served the Lower Waterford Congregational Church for eight years as organist and choir master and also served as summer organist at St. Matthews Chapel in Sugar Hill. He served the Town of Lisbon as the Treasurer of the town's trust funds. He was active in amateur radio and operated under the call sign W1LJN. Joe was an author and lecturer and published four books. The most recent of all was Happy Trails a narrative of his hiking experiences. He is survived by his wife Dawn of Lisbon, NH and a sister Meredith (Richard) of Seekonk, MA. Services will be held at the All Saints' Episcopal Church in Littleton, NH on December 20th at 11:00 am. |
