First Call: W1PPK in 1945
William de Krafft Burton, 89, of Concord, formerly of Lincoln and Winchester, died Sunday, March 6th 2016 after a brief stay at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading.
He grew up in Winchester attending the Mystic School, was a graduate of Winchester High School in 1944 and later, Hobart College.
In 1956, he married Priscilla March and moved to the town of Lincoln building a house overlooking Farrar Pond where he and Priscilla raised, William, Jr, Bonnie and Wendy.
After he and Priscilla became divorced in the early 70s, he moved to Concord where he resided until his death.
During this time, he was still very involved with his family supporting Bill Jr and Bonnie in their ice dancing aspirations.
After his father Carlisle passed away in 1966, he took over as President of the Burton-Rogers Company and guided the company through some very difficult times. Calibron Instruments was also started to respond to these challenges. He was a man devoted to his company and employees, some of whom worked at the company for decades. He was an honest, knowledgeable, dedicated businessman and was respected by employees, customers and business associates.
After retiring, he continued to keep in contact with his former employees. In like manner, he enjoyed bringing family together for a meal. He made a point of keeping in touch with relatives as well as friends from kindergarten to college. He will be remembered as thoughtful, caring and someone you could count on when it really mattered.
Survivors include his son, William deK. Burton, Jr and his wife Karen of Woburn, his son-in-law, Ronald Searing of Glen Mills, PA, and six grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Bonnie Searing and Wendy Burton, and brother of the late Joseph S. Burton and Marjorie A. Burton.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 14th at 11 am in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.
Burial will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.
Arrangements are under the care of Charles W. Dee, Jr. and Susan M. Dee, Dee Funeral Home of Concord.
