On Tuesday, 8 November 2011, Roger A. Laroche, 86, passed away in Arroyo Grande, Ca. He was born on Friday, 7 August 1925 in Highgate Center, Vt, and was the son of Narcisse Laroche and Leona Laroche. Following High School Roger went to Radio Tech School in New York City. There, during World War ll he worked for the Voice of America and was a spotter and pilot lookout for the Civil Air Patrol off the coast of Maine. Roger worked in the radio industry for several years before going to work for General Electric Company. He was transferred from Burlington, VT to Vandenberg Air Force Base in 1961 and retired from the AeroSpace Corporation in 1988. Though stricken with polio at age 2, Roger remained an active outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping and horseback riding with his family. He was an avid Ham radio operator, and was very proud of his call sign, W1RMX. Mr. Laroche is survived by daughter, Mary Laroche; son, Matt (Carol) Laroche, brothers, Henry, Andre and Paul and sister, Gisele, all of Vermont. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jonnah Ann (Jones) Laroche. |
