Dr. Mkitarian Dead at 60; City Dentist
Dr Luther M. Mkitarian, 60, a practicing dentist in Camden since 1924, died suddenly Sunday while visiting his daughter Claire, a student at Wesley College, Dover, Dela. A native of Armenia, he had lived many years in Haddonfield, where his home was at 500 Warwick rd.
He was a graduate of the Temple University School of Dentistry, and had taken post graduate courses at Washington University, St. Louis, Mo., Northwestern University, Chicago, and Ohio State University.
Dr. Mkitarian was a former staff member of Pennsylvania hospital, Philadelphia, and was presently on the staffs of Cooper Hospital, St. Luke's and Children's Hospitals, Philadelphia, Memorial Hospital, Woodbury, and Bridgeton Hospital.
He was a member and past president of the Dental Society of New Jersey; a member of the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania; vice commander of the Cherry Hill Chapter, Military Order of World Wars; chairman of the Camden County Multiple Sclerosis Society; a member of Parkside Lodge 217, Crescent Temple, and a past patron and member of Mystic Chapter, OES.
An amateur radio operator, he was active in the civil defense radio network.
In addition to his daughter, Dr. Mkitarian is survived by his wife, Margaret; a son Allan, at home; a brother. Robert, of Lansdowne. Pa., and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Boyajian, of Burlingame, Calif.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church, Haddonneld, with viewing Wednesday night at the Murray Funeral Home, 480 Cooper st.
Burial will be in National Cemetery, Beverly.
