Henry R. Voelker GILBERTSVILLE - Henry R. Voelker, 75, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2015, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital.
Henry graduated from Barnard Boys School where he started ham radio. He had been a ham radio operator since and obtained all advanced licenses.
His career was with IBM for 32 years as an engineer. After a short retirement he worked for Curtis Instruments.
Henry is survived by his wife, Susan, (nee von Haeseler) of 44½ years; three children, Elaine and Perry Dibble; and their two children, Thelma (Tracy), and Henry R. Volker; honorary grandchildren, Johnathan and Ainslie O'Grady, Dr. and Mrs. Rad Stevanovic, Dr. and Mrs. Brian Haworth, Ellen Porter and Scott and Mrs. Haworth.
While living in Ossining for 31 years, Henry enjoyed sailing. He was elected Commodore of Shattemuc Yacht Club and was in charge of the l00th year celebration in 1984. He served as president of the Gilbertsville Fire Department for three years. He was very supportive of the fire department and emergency squad and continued his gratefulness to the squad as duly noted.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 20, at the Johnston Funeral Home, Morris. Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 21, at the First Baptist Church, Gilbertsville with the Rev Kurt Funke officiating.
Refreshments will be served following the service at the Gilbertsville Firehouse on Marion Avenue, Gilbertsville.
