Henry Schickler, passed away on December 8, 2012 at age 93, just 8 days shy of his 94th birthday.
He was predeceased by Sylvia, his wife of sixty-two years. He is survived by his children Mark (Patti) of Bridgeport, Connecticut and Susan (Robert) Kass of Port Washington, NY, his grandchildren Matthew (Vanessa), Jason (Mary), Brianne (Jason) Bresky and his five great grandchildren Alex, Ethan, Isabel, Jonas and Aurora. Poppa Henry loved his family above all else.
He proudly served his country in WWII receiving with his unit a citation for keeping communications open during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a ham radio operator since the age of 16 when he built his first crystal set.
In retirement as a typesetter, he became an accomplished woodworker, making many gifts for friends and family. He volunteered at the local senior center and was always happy helping other people. Henry strongly believed in the importance of education.
