MAURICE I. SASSON, M.D., 103, of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away April 18, 2016 at his home under Hospice Care. Born in Turkey, Dr. Sasson was a resident of Port St. Lucie, FL since 1991, moving from West Chester, NY. He earned his doctorate degree and practiced in Internal Medicine for 45 years in the Bronx, NY having graduated with his M.D. in 1941. He attended NY University, University of Edenburgh in Scotland, and University of Lausanne, in Switzerland. After school he married Pauline Montage. In 1962 he married his current wife Julia Sasson. Dr. Sasson was an avid amateur radio operator since 1935 with station W2JAJ. He was a member of The American Radio Relay League. He was of the Jewish faith. Dr. Sasson served as the directors of the Diabetic Clinic from 1942-1946, Electrocardiology from 1964-1972, Infectious Diseases from 1972-1980. He was on the staff of Pelham Bay Hospital from 1972-1986. He was proud to serve as an Associate Member of The College of Cardiology from 1974 till his death. He was accomplishments included being an Author, Lecturer, and Educator. Survivors include his wife, Julia Sasson of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughter, Madeline Sasson of NY, step-sons, Maurice Massaro, James Massaro; step-daughter, Maria DiMinno and grandsons, Nathan Montes, Anthony Cuomo , Leonard Cuomo, Nicholas DeLeo, James Massaro, Joseph Massaro, and John Massaro, and Jim Massaro, and Maurice Massaro; granddaughters, Tina Montes, Julia Amato, and Renee Reimer; along with many great grandchildren. A gathering of friends and family will be Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 1:00PM . 2:00PM at the Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 SE Floresta Drive, Poort St. Lucie, FL, with a Service at 2:00PM at the Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at White City Cemetery, Fort Pierce, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5000 Dunn Road, Fort Pierce, Florida 34981. Arrangements are entrusted to Aycock Funeral Home, Port St. Lucie, FL.
