John Robert Van Son passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 Memorials: ASPCA or charity of choice . Born March 3, 1928, in Buffalo, N.Y., and raised on the family farm in Attica, John had an early career in broadcasting and recording, and in 1955 joined Motorola, Inc. where he retired 34 years later as area sales manager in Dallas, Texas. A few of his hobbies were "ham" radio (W2JUA), gardening, and big band record collecting. John also taught English as a second language and in his later years, completed five bicycle tours throughout Europe. His volunteership was extensive, recently serving Call-a-Ride of Southlake, and the SouthView HOA. John was preceded in death by his parents; oldest daughter, Susan; and three siblings. Survivors: Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Marilyn; his adoring children, Patricia, Linda Jean, John, and Paula; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and sister, Carole.
