Stanley E. Carpenter Jr., 88, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011, at the VA Medical Center. A life resident of the Syracuse area, he was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Minoa, NY. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was employed as a radar technician with General Electric for over 28 years before retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a former member of St. Matthew's Church. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cheryl Salem, in 1991. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Darlene E. Greiner Carpenter; his granddaughter, Amy Salem of East Syracuse; and a cousin, Joan Whiting of Mattydale. Funeral services will be 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in MATHEWSON-FORANI FUNERAL HOME, INC., and 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Minoa. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Minoa.
