He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
Oliver was a rural letter carrier for the Otego post office before his retirement.
A resident of Otego since 1955, Oliver had been the owner-operator of Shaws Mobil Service Station, Route 7, Otego in the 1950s.
He attended the Franklin Methodist Church and was a member of the Otego American legion. In his pastime he enjoyed bowling, fishing and playing pool.
He was predeceased by a sister, Esther Butler.
Burial is in the Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.
