MORAN, Charles W. 94 of Clifton died peacefully on Sunday, January 22, 2017. Born in Owego, NY, he spent his youth in Little Meadows, PA before moving to Clifton 68 years ago.
A graduate of Bliss Technical Institute, Charlie was the Senior Customer Engineer for I.B.M. in Newark and West Orange at the time of his retirement in 1987 after a 45 year career. He is a US Navy Veteran of World War II. Charlie was a faithful parishioner of St. Clare RC Church in Clifton, a dedicated member of their Holy Name Society and served as an usher for over 60 years. He is a founding member of Chapter 73 of the Experimental Aircraft Assn. in Fairfield, a member and Secretary of the Deriter Club of Clifton and a ham radio operator whose call letters were W2SUX.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Agnes (Vitkauskas), by a daughter, Patricia DeVivo and husband, Donald of Kensington, CT, by a son, John C. Moran of Pompano Beach, FL, by two grandsons, Kyle DeVivo and wife, Alex and Kevin DeVivo and girlfriend, Casey, by a great granddaughter, Ellie, by two sisters, Veronica Fechter and Vola Heath both of PA, by a sister in law, Marie Moran of Princeton Junction and by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Paul.
Funeral services will begin 9:15AM Wednesday at Allwood Funeral Home, 660 Allwood Road, Clifton with a 10AM Mass at St. Clare RC Church. Burial will follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8PM. Memorial donations to St. Clare RC Church, 69 Allwood Rd., Clifton, NJ 07014 will be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
