William L.Bill. Kimbell, 95, of Wildwood FL, died peacefully on September 23. Born in Tallahassee in 1924, his parents were Clarence Grover and Mary Jenkins Kimbell. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Stark Kimbell, sisters Mary Clare Pichard (Gordon) and Elizabeth Weinreb Elliott (Murray). He leaves children William L Kimbell Jr (Kiran) and Nancy Ann Kimbell Blass (Randall), grandchildren Melanie Allen (Jason), Deborah Blass, Kara Bechtle (Eric) and William L Kimbell III (Courtney), and great-grandchildren Nina Clare Bechtle and Gabriel William Allen, a niece, nephews and their families.
He graduated from Emory College in 1944 with a BS-Electrical Engineering.
He moved to Syracuse NY where he was an engineering and program manager for the General Electric Corporation. He retired after a forty year career and was a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
He and Ann wintered at the Pelican, New Smyrna Beach. Bill was an active amateur radio operator (W2TYO - Extra Class) for eighty years, a member of Radio Amateurs of Greater Syracuse, the Amateur Radio Relay League and the Quarter Century Wireless Association.
'Pop', as he was known by his family and many friends, was a generous, patient, intelligent and loving man. He was devoted to Ann and all his family and he will be missed.
