John S. Naratil, 81, of Phoenixville, formerly of 423 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, died Sunday in Phoenixville Manor. He was the husband of the late Alice I. (Mooney) Naratil. He was a tester and geophysical examiner in the research department at the New Jersey Zinc Co., Palmerton, for 45 years before retiring in 1967.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Radics) Naratil. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Palmerton. John was past president and secretary of the Magyar Szovethezet Club, Palmerton. A former bowler, he rolled a perfect game in 1949. John also was a ham radio operator (8CTZ, 3AMC, W8CTZ, W3AMC) since 1917.
Surviving are a son, Edgar A., W3BNR, with whom he resided; a brother Albert of Palmerton; a sister Mary, wife of John Ruzika of New York City, and two grandsons.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Charles H. Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.
There will be no calling hours.
