THOMAS APPLEBY, W3AX, USNR (Ret.) Washington, D. C., is said to be
the first U.S. wireless operator. Operated a complete station in Philadelphia in
1899. He founded the first wireless school in 1911. Tom is credited with a score of inventions. Served in the U. S. Navy in both World Wars. He is a member of practically everything; writer and musician. His life and accomplishments would fill a book, which indeed, Tom has written for his family. Tom was born in Eng land in 1886.
