Edward Lee “Bud” Bruns, of Glenwood, MD, age 84, passed away on September 29, 2021. Born January 29, 1937 in Woodville, OH. He died after a short private battle with cancer. Ed managed his illness with strength and grace, and spent his final days surrounded by family.
Bud graduated from Woodville High School Class of 1955, joined the U.S. Navy in 1956 and was discharged in 1960. He married Jeannette (Bihn) Bruns in 1961 and had three children while in central Ohio. He moved his family to New Carrollton, MD in 1967 to continue his career with the U.S. Government. He was active in the Boys and Girls Club of America local organization, coaching his children, and holding board member positions. A lifelong Amateur Radio enthusiast, call sign W3EKT, he was the RTTY worldwide contest winner in 1974, and remained an active member Potomac Valley Radio Club. In his youth he found a love of aviation. He was an avid control-line and radio control aircraft hobbyist prior to obtaining his private pilot license in 1977 and becoming an aircraft owner. Upon his retirement, after a 37 year career as an electronic technician, he enjoyed traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. In 2009, he married Susanne Caviness, Captain (ret) USPHS. Ed enjoyed acting in local theatre, and was a proud member of MENSA. He was a man of few words, unless talking about his hobbies or family. A passionate reader, he enjoyed daily crossword puzzles.
Preceded in death by wife Jeannette (2006), father Arthur F. Bruns, and mother Dorothy L. (Hohlfelder) Bruns.
Survived by wife Susanne, children Lynn (Bruns) King, Lee Bruns, and Lisa (Bruns) Nunley, their spouses Robert King, Kim (Bruorton) Bruns, and William Nunley, his nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, brother Tony Bruns and family, and sister Joyce (Bruns) Wahl and family.
Internment will take place at 11AM on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Lake Township Cemetery, 3550 Walbridge Road, Millbury, Ohio 43447. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Association,
