Philip E. Battey, 81 of Casa Grande, AZ passed away August 14, 2017. He was born July 15, 1936 in Hartford, Connecticut. He was the son of Everett Lewis Battey and Louise Edna (Hyneck) Battey. He graduated from George Washington University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in mathematics and physics. He was employed at David Taylor Navel Research Center for 32-years of service and retired in 1991 at age 55. He was an amateur ham radio operator, call letters W3FZV; active until 2014. He loved to travel the world and loved physic, science, history and language books.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara and one Brother, Bruce Battey of Fredericksburg, Texas. He has seven step-children, Cynthia Walunas, deceased March 2017, Tempe, AZ.; Cheri Hill, Washington State; Michele Humbertson, California, Debra Baubie, Casa Grande, AZ; Kimberly Pritchard, Mesa, AZ; Catherine Rendle Murphy, Oklahoma; George "Ren" Rendle, Georgia. Eleven Step Grand Children; eleven Step Great Grand Children and one Step Great -Great Grandson.
Philip is also survived by cousins, Pauline (Battey) Beauchemin, (Widow of Robert Beauchemin), of Manchester, NH and Lucy (Battey) Dobe, (wife of Edward Dobe) of Manchester. Surviving cousins by marriage, Sally Maher (Widow of Cousin Arthur E. Battey), of Great Falls, Montana; Margaret L. Battey (Widow of Cousin David F. Battey) of Goffstown, NH and Edward Dobe of Manchester, husband of cousin Lucy (Battey) Dobe. Philip is also survived by many cousins "once removed"
Philip is predeceased by Uncle Harry E. Battey and Aunt Isabelle (Joy) Battey of Goffstown, NH; Aunt Velma (Battey) Sandner and husband Les, of Ridgefield Park, NJ; Cousin Mildred L. (Battey) Branch and husband Frederick (Tunny) Branch, Jr.
A Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM and a Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 26th at Green Acres Mortuary 401 N Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, AZ.
