Wilbur O. Hansen, 88, a resident of Springhill Senior Living and formerly of Woodbridge, NJ and Waynesboro, VA, died Friday September 23, 2011 at Forestview Skilled Nursing Center following a lengthy illness.
A resident of Erie since 1970 he was born in Perth Amboy, NJ a son of the late Albert Sr. and Cornelia Peterson Hansen.
Wilbur was a graduate of Woodbridge High School and the Pratt Institute. He was a member of the United States Navy having served during World War II. He worked as an engineer at GE for over 40 years before retiring in 1986. He enjoyed woodworking and was a ham radio enthusiast.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Hansen Jr. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Margaret Hadden Hansen; two daughters, Susan Roberts and her husband Denton of Charlottesville, VA and Marilyn King and her husband Roy of Beckley, WV; one son, Thomas A. Hansen and his wife Beverly of Long Valley, NJ; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Saffritt and her husband Clayton, Andrew T. Hansen and his wife Michelle, Lesley Hansen, Leila Macfarlan and her husband Luke, Katherine Roberts, Cullen Roberts, Jennifer King and her fiance Matthew Williams, and Karen Bartgis; and six great grandchildren, Devyn, Joshua, Killian, Isabella, Soren, and Emily. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
