Richard Thompson of Waldorf, Maryland passed away on March 12, 2013 at the age of 81.
Richard was an avid radio operator (W3ODJ) achieving DXCC honor roll by the American Radio League. He did a lot of traveling with his favorite place being Nepal in the Himalayas. He worked at NASA and enjoyed his work mathematically modeling planetary atmospheres. He was well known for his love and care for cats of all kind.
Richard is preceded in death by his father Daniel Thompson, mother Marie Thompson and brother Daniel Thompson Jr. He is survived by his close friends Paul Schmid and Robert Gardner as well as many friends and colleagues.
The funeral service will be on Friday March 15, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Peter.s Catholic Church in Waldorf, Maryland. The burial will follow the funeral service at St.Peter.s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Radio Relay League. Services by Huntt Funeral Home.

Richard F. Thompson, of Waldorf, MD, passed away on March 12th. He was an Electrical Engineer at Goddard who principally worked as a Mathematician in the Space Science Directorate mathematically modeling planetary atmospheres.
