Charles G.W. Arnold, 85, died Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Sylvia A. (Bean) Arnold. Born in Wilmington, Del., in 1929, he was a son of the late Rev. Jay H. and Ruth E. Arnold.
After Charles' graduation in 1946 from York High School, he went to work at the Weaver Piano Co., where he learned the woodworking trade. He worked there for several years before entering the electronics field.
He studied at York College in the 60's where he took courses in math, physics, and the humanities.
For 50 years he was employed as an Electronics Engineer - first with Bendix of York, then with ISC - Ferranti of Lancaster, and finally with Strube Instruments of Marietta until his retirement.
Charles was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, the Hanover Art Guild, and the York Rifle Club. He had also been a licensed radio amatuer since 1949 called W3PRG. Among his hobbies were art (he painted hundreds of pictures) and woodworking.
In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his two sons, Charles L. Arnold of Red Lion, and Thomas E. Arnold of East Prospect; and four step-daughters, Sherry O'Bryan, Shelly Bell, and Dee Goding, all of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Karen Ellis of San Jose, Calif.
Per his request there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West York Rescue Mission, 367 W Market St, York, PA 17401.
