Joseph M. Olnick, 92, of Burnham, died at 9:54 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, at his home. Born July 28, 1923, in Burnham, he was a son of the late Harry C. and Stephanie M. (Kryston) Olnick.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by: his first wife, Dorothy (Carson) Olnick, on Jan. 11, 1980; two infant siblings, John Olnick and Frances Olnick; brothers, Harry S. and Michael E. Olnick; and sisters, Martha A. Rodgers and Stephanie M. Demskie.
He is survived by: his wife, Dorothy E. (Thompson) Olnick, whom he married Nov. 8, 1980; his son, James M. Olnick, of Virginia; his daughter, Margaret A. O'Donnell, of Reedsville; stepchildren, Danny L. Kinser and wife, Della, and Ruth Murphy, both of Lewistown; his brothers, William D. Olnick and wife, Esther, of Belleville, Leon J. Olnick and wife, Nancy, of Lewistown, and Carl F. Olnick and wife, Sally, of Elizabethtown; sister, Lucy Morris and husband, Philip, of King of Prussia; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Joe was a graduate of Burnham High School and served in the US Army Pacific Theatre during WWII.
He worked as a director of purchasing and stores at Standard Steel from 1941-1982.
Joe was a very active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church where he served as a lay minister.
He also was a life member of American Radio Relay League, Mifflin County Amateur Radio Club, VFW Post 7011, Lewistown, and former member of Lewistown Elks Lodge #663.
Joe enjoyed going to the beach, wood working, and church activities.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 am Wednesday, Oct 28, at Sacred Heart Church with Father William Weary officiating. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 pm Tuesday, Oct 27, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc, 108 First Ave, Burnham. Interment with graveside military rites will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joseph's name may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N Dorcas St, Lewistown, PA 17044.
