Anthony 'Mooney' DiBerardinis, 94, of Downingtown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at his home.
He was the beloved husband of Yolanda Mento DiBerardinis, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Born in Downingtown, he was the son of the late Emidio and Rosalia DiBerardinis.
Anthony was a 1940 graduate of Downingtown High School. He then proudly served his country during W.W. II in the U.S. Navy, in the South Pacific, attaining the rank of Pharmacist's Mate 1st Class, and earning the Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
Anthony then went on to work for PECO as an Electrical Mechanic, retiring in 1984.
A Catholic in faith, Anthony was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Downingtown. He was also a life member of the Downingtown VFW and St. Anthony's Lodge.
As a hobby he was an avid ham radio operator, having the call letters W3TTS.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Joseph DiBerardinis, of Downingtown, and John (Lynne) DiBerardinis, of Coatesville; daughter, Anne Martorana, of Coatesville; sisters, Terry (Dr. Arthur) Petrella, of West Chester, and MaryJo (Tom) Tracy, of Honey Brook; grandchildren, Steve (Valerie) Martorana, Adrienne and Gina Martorana, and Lisa and Julie DiBerardinis; and great-grandchildren, Gavin and Sylvia Martorana, and Matthew Patzek.
He was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Ed Hendricks.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335, where family and friends can call from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Anthony.s memory to St. Joseph Church at the above address.
