John Letherman Barber Jr.CRISFIELD -- John Letherman Barber Jr., 82, of Crisfield, and formerly of Baltimore, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Roscoe, Pa., he was the son of the late John L. and Beatrice Barber. Mr. Barber was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific on the USS Canberra C70 in World War II. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 31 years in the electronic department. He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows and a lifetime ham radio enthusiast. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Catherine D. Barber; two daughters, Delphine Duschel and her husband, Louis, of Baltimore and Cynthia Conner and her husband, John, of Crisfield; three sons, John Barber and wife, Patricia, of Spokane, Wash., Edward and his wife, Diana, of Snow Hill and Michael Barber of Baltimore; sisters, Marie Bafile of Roscoe, Beatrice Carmello of Fontana, Calif., Anna Mae Klos of St. Clairesville, Ohio, and Ina Bilitski of Roscoe; brothers, James Barber of Roscoe and Frank Barber of Roscoe; grandchildren, Richard and Andre Villasenor, John L. Barber IV, Sean Barber, Michelle Sloan, Gregory Dowell and Miranda, Mikayla and Rachel Conner; and great-grandchildren, R. Collin, Garrett, Dylan, Austin, Trenton, Christopher, Juliana, Angelina, Sirus and Ariella. He was preceded in death by his sister, Melissa Fisher, and brother, Richard Barber. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, where friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be Friday in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
