Paul R. Laubscher, 95, of 311 Ross Siding Drive, Cammal, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at the Jersey Shore Hospital.
He was born Sept. 9, 1913, in Lock Haven, a son of Harvey S. Laubscher and the former Eva M. Shoemaker. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, the former M. Marguerite Bilby on Aug. 18, 1998. They were united in marriage on Nov. 2, 1934.
He was an amateur radio operator and was a member of the West Branch Amateur Radio Association. Earlier in his life he was employed by Woolrich, Sylvania and later retired from Westinghouse in Elmira. After retiring he moved to the Pine Creek Valley and spent time gardening and making maple syrup.
He was a graduate of the former Williamsport Tech and was a 50-year-member of the LaFayette Lodge No. 199, F&AM, Lock Haven.
Paul was a life member of the Covenant United Methodist Church in Lock Haven and attended Cedar Run Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Virginia L. (Jay) McCormick of Cammal and Barbara A. Laubscher of Woolrich; three grandchildren, Miriam Hayes, Paula McCormick and John McCormick, and two great-grandchildren, Robert Hayes and Shannon Hayes. Paul was preceded in death by a brother, John Laubscher and three sisters, Florence Baver, Eunice Brickley and Mary Aungst.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 at the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore, with the Rev. Gary Messinger officiating. Burial will be in Swissdale Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in his name to the Pine Creek Preservation Association of the Cedar Run Baptist Church, both in care of the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home.
