Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Miriam Michaels, and his loving family: his children, Joseph and Jane Michaels IV and Leonard and Sally Michaels; his stepchildren Mike Ruby and Merrill McLoughlin and Diane and Byron Bradley; his grandchildren Dr. Joseph and Heather Michaels V and Jess (Michaels) and Michael Bernstein; his step-grandchildren Jenny and Rob Mason, Josh Bradley and David Bradley; his great-grandchildren Jake and Parker Michaels and his great-stepgrandchildren Max and Luke Mason and Delia Bradley.

Native of Brooklyn, NY and longtime resident of Woodsburgh, NY, Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Coast, FL and Phoenix, AZ.

World War II Coast Guard Petty Officer, First Class. Successful businessman as CEO of Michaels & Co. furniture stores in Brooklyn and Long Island, and later founder and CEO of Billy Blake Dept Stores, Long Island until retirement. Coast Guard Auxiliary member and instructor. Avid and proficient ham radio operator, boatman and yacht club president, fisherman and golfer.

A private service was performed January 15.
