A past treasurer of QCWA, Duke is retired as both an airline Captain and Air Force Reserve Lt. Colonel. He holds an Extra class license and 2008 marked his 60th year in amateur radio.

A life member of QCWA, ARRL and AMSAT, he served as Chapter President, Treasurer and is in his third term as Secretary. An active DXer, he holds DXCC "Top of the Honor Roll" as well as other operating awards.

As trustee of the chapter club license, he has been a motivating force in sponsoring and amintaining both the local packet BBS and DX Cluster operating under the chapter call, K4QC.
