LELAND H. CARMAN JR, 69, of Memphis, retired air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration, died Sunday at St. Francis Hospital after a long illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Hill Funeral Home East with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery East.

He was a member of the Southland Baptist Church, the Delta Amateur Radio Club, Moose Lodge and was a veteran of World War II.

He leaves his wife, Alvaleen 'Abby' Carman; a daughter, Mrs. Lucretia Sansom; a sister, Miss Mary R. Carman and two brothers, James Richard Carman and Carlos Raymond Carman, all of Memphis, and three grandchildren.
