Donald J. Golini, 81, of Orangeburg, passed away peacefully at his residence following an extended illness on Monday, June 29, 2015.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, in West End Cemetery, St. Matthews, with the Rev. Anthony Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
Ron was born July 13, 1933, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was a son of the late Bruno and Nancy Franchi Golini.
He was a graduate of Atlantic City High School and received his radio technician degree from Grantham University.
He served in the Korean War for the United States Navy. Ron retired from the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., where he worked as a police officer and radio technician.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, past member of the Elks Club and the Mid-Carolina Gun Club. He was an avid ham radio operator (ARRL) and loved to spend time traveling and cruising around the world with his wife.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Lou Golini; a daughter, Nancy Bilton (Kerry) of St. Matthews; a son, Danny Golini (Sonya) of Blowing Rock, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Wesley and Kera Ann Bilton, Katherine Golini, Erin Phipps and Addy Kincaid; and his beloved dog, Schatzi.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the girls from Grove Park Hospice and Pharmacy.
