Music was a big part of his life, as well. He sang solos in his church choir, and was a member of the Naval Academy Glee Club choir. He played piano, guitar and loved classical music. For many years, he sang to the Altenheim residents at Christmas, while accompanied on piano by wife Margie.
He was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the US Naval Academy Alumni Association, Navy Cryptologic Veterans Association, American Radio Relay League, Naval Reserve Association, Quarter Century Wireless Association, The US Navy Memorial, and long time board member of The Altenheim.
He was a member of Thomas Jefferson Unitarian Church.
