Cournoyer, Edouard D., 100, formerly of Atlanta, GA, died March 4, 2016 in the home of his son. He was the husband of the late Alleen B. (Brannon) Cournoyer. Born in Woonsocket, Edouard was the son of the late Ernest and Delhia (Turcotte) Cournoyer.
Edouard was a lifetime US Army Veteran, serving in the Army for over thirty-five years, and retiring as a Master Sergeant. He worked mainly in communications and was fluent in five languages, working closely with generals He also had twenty years of Civil Service in the Army. Mr. Cournoyer served his country during WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his son George Fontaine Jr. and his wife Joyce of Woonsocket and his daughter Irene Croteau of Blackstone, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Edouard was pre-deceased by his siblings, Norman Cournoyer and Irene Estes.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 10th from 9-10AM in the Fournier and Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland Street, Woonsocket. His funeral procession will then travel to the RI Veteran Cemetery in Exeter, RI for committal prayers and Military Honors.
