Chapter 49

Hello. I got my call W4UXJ (WN4UXJ Novice held for one year) when I was 14 yrs old in 1951 in high school in Melbourne, Florida. It is an original call, never issued to anyone but me. In 1953, I was the very first General (Class B) class licensee to become an official member of the Florida Knights of the Kilocycles. Prior to me, you had to have a Class A license to operate on the 75 meter phone band. I am now celebrating my 58 yrs in ham radio. I graduated from University of Florida in 1966 with a PhD in Electrical Engineering. I retired from Lockheed Martin in 1998 after spending 32 yrs with them in Marietta, Georgia. I worked on Electronic Warfare, Weapons Systems, and Airborne Computer applications for various special-mission air vehicles. I hold a Private Pilot's License (inactive), a Professional Engineer's License in the State of Georgia, and a FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License. My wife, Lindsay, holds Amateur call, KA4PXX.

I am now playing full time with all of my electronics toys !! I can highly recommend retirement to all !!!!
