August 11, 1997Harold M. Smith, retired from the National Weather Service and A&A Business Machine, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997, at his East Brainerd home.
He was 74. Mr. Smith served in the Air Weather Service of the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He received the Ray Geiger Service Award in 1983 and 1990. He was a member, deacon, usher and Sunday school teacher at Oakwood Baptist Church.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East, with Dr. Wallace McGill officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the Oakwood Baptist Church Building Fund, 4501 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, Tenn. 37416.
