Gerald E. Bloomer, age 90, a resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Sydney and Margaret Davis Bloomer.
Gerald is survived by a daughter, Joyce Purcell and her husband, David of Walton, KY, a son, Joe Nettleton and his wife, Justine of Ft. Worth, TX, a sister, Ruth Galbreath of Troy, Ohio, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Gerald was born in New Holland, Ohio on August 17, 1925.
Gerald received his BA degree and was at United States Navy Seebee during World War II. Gerald was honorably discharged and was a civil engineer. Gerald was a civilian employee for the civil service for 25 years and retired at the age of 53. Later on in life he moved to Las Vegas, NM and loved to travel, square dance, and enjoyed snow skiing, fishing and hunting.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 8th and National Avenue in Las Vegas. Pastor Rosemary Pearson will conduct the services. His cremated remains will be interred in the Dayton, Ohio National Cemetery on Friday, August 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, 715 National Avenue, Las Vegas, NM 87701.
