Bossier City, LA . Carl E. Beck, age 88, was born in Norwalk Ohio, March 14, 1930, to Frank Daniel Beck and Pearl Agnes Beck. He passed away on Nov-11-2018, in Bossier City, LA.

Services for Mr. Beck will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, November 30, 2018, at St. Jude Catholic Church, Benton, LA, Father Pike Thomas, presiding.

His wife Rose D. Beck of 62 years, son Timothy Paul Beck, his siblings, Doris, Frank, Arden, and baby Ileta preceded him in death.

Carl is survived by his sons, Frank T. Beck (Sharon) and Terry W. Beck (Barb) 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren,

He grew up in Norwalk Ohio where he was the youngest of five children.

Carl proudly severed in the United States Air Force for 20 years where he worked as an electrical engineer and then retired in 1969.

Carl truly lived life to the fullest through his many hobbies, square dance, flying, ham radio, bowling, woodworking, computers, 3D printing, painting and many more high tech ventures. He enjoyed sharing and spending time with his nephews, nieces and close friends.

Carl had an uncanny ability to impart words of wisdom to others with such authority and conviction that you knew he knew what he was talking about.

He told us on many occasion "Never Stop Learning!", and "You're never too old to learn new things!", and proved it with every new challenge he embarked upon.

At age 88, he was a master woodworker, drone operator and ham radio operator. He was very proud of his retractable and hidden antenna setups. Over the past 3 years, he got involved with 3D printing and would model and build ornate house trim to match and replace the failing trim on some of the historic home of Louisiana.

Carl would excel in everything he tried and always encouraged others to do the same.

The family would like to thank John and Jana Fulco for dedicating themselves to Carl's care during the last few months of his life.

(July 2011) I allowed my Advance Class License to expire in1975. My interest in Ham Radio returned in January 2011. I got my General Class in March and my Extra Class on July 16. I'm baaaack.

I live in a community where an Amateur Radio Antenna is a challenge (Not Allowed) so I am cheating. I have a G5RV with the center attached to the peak of the Hip Roof an ends sloping down to the 6 foot wood fence in the back yard. Unless you are looking for it you cannot see it. I read reviews about the Hy-Gain AV-640 Patriot and decided to buy one. I designed a system where using a Rotator mounted horizontally I can have my Vertical laying Horizontal and with the push of a button, raise it to Vertical. I am hoping that since it is not up all the time, maybe no one will complain.

My station is an Elecraft K3 most of the time driving an SPE Expert1K-FA
