MILLER SR., BILLY W. (W5BWM) A former plantation manager and a retiree from Turner Industries, he died Saturday night, Dec. 3, 2005, at his home in Maringouin. He was 79 and a native of Senath, Mo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the National Guard, having served in the Pacific theater and the occupation of Japan during World War II. Visiting at Niland's Funeral Home, Livonia, on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Deacon Sammy Collura. Interment in Rosedale Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marjorie E. Miller, Maringouin; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and James Wright, Lakeland, Fla.; three sons and daughters-in-law, David A. and Karen C. Miller, New Roads, Stephen L. and Barbara Miller, Port Allen, and James E. and Kimm E. Miller, Prairieville; three sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Reeder, Little Rock, Ark., Barbara Jones, Amarillo, Texas, and Janis Kay Miller, San Diego; a brother, Gary Don Miller, St. Louis; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Arthur and Bertha Brooks Miller; a son, Robert Dale Miller; brothers, Edward, Harold, James "Hot," Charles and Jackie Miller; and sister, Martha Ann Walls. Pallbearers will be his children and grandchildren. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Amateur Radio, where his call sign was W5BWM (Extra Class), QCWA Club (The Old Old Timers Club) and a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. |
