Clement Josef Burke, age 94, originally of Archabald, PA, passed into eternal life on August 31, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at his Littleton, CO residence.
Clem was preceded in death by parents Timothy and Anna (Inman); brother Richard; sister Elizabeth; son Michael. He was the oldest of 4 siblings.
Following in his father's footsteps of serving his country, he was 18 when he joined the Army, serving from 1939 - 1945. He spent the majority of his military time in the Signal Corps, stationed in British Guyana and the Netherlands.
He was licensed as a General class Amateur Radio operator in 1945, as W2PST and in 1950 he was upgraded to an Extra Class.
He married to Helenrose (Edgerton) July 16, 1949 in 1st Methodist Church in Endicott, NY.
Clem and Helenrose lived in Vestal, NY until 1961,when they relocated to New Mexico. At that time Clem's call sign was changed to W5IXR. He was active in several Amateur Radio clubs, emergency operations and search & rescue. He was employed as an Electronics Technician at Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory from 1962 until retirement at 1987. Clem and Helerose were active in Square Dancing from 1968 to the mid 1970's. Their last move was to Littleton, CO in early 2016.
He is loved and survived by wife Helenrose (Edgerton); son Timothy; daughter Fe Ana (Burke) Balsick; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Mary Ann Sawyer.
Services will be held in Clement's honor on Saturday, September 24, 2016, 1:00 pm at Heritage United Methodist Church, 7077 S. Simms St, Littleton, CO 80127.
