Moffitt, Robert 95 Mar. 17, 1921 Sep 17, 2016 Robert "Bob" Duncan Moffitt, 95, passed away peacefully Sept. 17, 2016.
Bob was born in Denison, Iowa March 17, 1921 to Max and Ethel (Chamberlin) Moffitt.
As a youngster, Bob worked for his grandfather, E.C. Chamberlin rebuilding watches.
Bob was a life member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
Bob received a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University after returning from service in World War II. He began building dams with the Bureau of Reclamation in 1948 then joined the US Army Corps of Engineers to assist with rebuilding of Europe after the war. Bob enjoyed a full career of over 30 years with the Corps of Engineers and provided consultation on river management with the United Nations. He retired from the Corps of Engineers in Portland in 1980.
Bob married Marilyn Morrow on June 8, 1947. They raised three boys, Robert D. Jr, Eric C., and Geoff A., through their early adventures in life traveling from Iowa to Wash. to Europe before settling in the Pacific Northwest.
Bob and Marilyn enjoyed a life full of travel and adventure. They loved to see the country traveling around in their RV with their cats.
