Jack Dudley Fisher, 83, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 28, 2004. He was the widower of Kathleen B. Fisher and Sally Jo Fisher. He served in World War II in the United States Navy as an electronics instructor. He was the general manager of Radio Supply in Wichita, Kan., until 1959. He held a commercial pilot license with an instrument rating and was licensed to fly single and multi-engine airplanes as well as helicopters. He took a position with Lavender Radio Supply in Memphis, Tenn., and purchased a small farm in Michigan City. His other ventures included the first mobile phone system in North Mississippi in which he jointly owned and operated, providing technology consulting using his in-house computer system. He served as part time constable and deputy sheriff for Benton County. He also served as the postmaster for the Michigan City post office. He was employed at First State Bank in Holly Springs and provided information technology consulting services through his 81st birthday. He had a strong interest in amateur radio. His first call sign was W0QUU and in 1964 he was the home base radio man for the Plaisted Polar Expedition to the North Pole.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 1 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.
He leaves two daughters, Jan Loomer of Minong, Wisc., Valerie Dow of Rio Rancho, N.M.; a son, Don Fisher of Cary, N.C.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren
