"Bob" Onspaugh, Sr. Sept. 5, 1925 - Sept. 18, 2017 NORMAN Robert James "Bob" Onspaugh Sr., of Norman, OK, passed away September 18, 2017, at the age of 92. He was born September 5, 1925, in Meadville, PA.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking in his shop, traveling, and playing the guitar.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, in the 5th Division in Iwo Jima.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Moore Masonic Lodge, #539.
Bob worked at General Electric as a parts manager, and retired after 25 years of service. After retirement, he worked for 10 years for Moore Public Schools as head of AC Maintenance.
His first love was his family. Bob is survived by 3 sons, Arthur C. Onspaugh & wife, Pauline, Robert Onspaugh, Jr. & wife, Carol, and Paul Onspaugh & wife, Karen; 1 daughter, Laurie Box & husband, Glenn, of Norman; 11 grandchildren, Arthur "AJ" Onspaugh, Jr. & wife, Andrea, Laura Barrett & husband, Michael, Dawn Vanderpool & husband, Mark, Shelley Alvarez & husband, Charles, Robert Onspaugh III & wife, Lindsay, Chris Box & Robyn Wilkins, John Box & Courtney Lacy, Michael Box, Rebecca Box, Patrick Onspaugh, and Nicholas Onspaugh; 4 great-grandchildren, Kyla Barrett, Maya, Joselyn, and Roland Onspaugh; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur & Viola Onspaugh; his wife, Ella Onspaugh; and sister, Nellie Krider. A Funeral Mass for Bob will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 800 SW 5th St., Moore, OK.
Interment will be held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK.
Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home, Moore, OK.
