Milly Wise, W50VH, is a candidate for Director. When she became eligible to be a member of QCWA, she realized there was not a chapte4r in El Paso. Along with John Davis, W5TOJ, Charlie Beard, W5LG, Charlie Wood, W5HYG, Howard Brokate, W5RO, and others who were eligible, the sought help from QCW A members Clyde McNicol, W5NB, and Jerry McTernan, W5YV. From that beginning, the El Paso Chapter 64 was formed.
Wise has been an Amateur Radio Operator since 1948. She has been president, secretary, of Chapter 64. She has been president, secretary, and currently treasurer of the El Paso, ARC. Additionally, except for the years 1962-1968, she has been the editor of its newsletter, "The W5ES Bulletin" since 1960. Also, she is a charter member of El Paso's 10 Bar X Chapter of 10-10 International and of the Sun City ARC. The latter she served as the newsletter editor for one year.
Wise is a life member of ARRL and has been an ARRL Assistant Director through the terms of seven directors. She was deeply involved in getting the West Texas Section of the West Gulf Division started and has been the only section manager of that section since its inception.
Wise is a member of Society of Wireless Pioneers and OOTC. Currently, she is the Chairman of the International Hamfiesta, which will be held in El Paso.
